Usability Planning

Setting the stage.

In order to successfully test whether a website is effective in helping users accomplish their goals, Optiem works with client to determine the overall goals for the business and the customers. Optiem has a proven discovery process that helps to determine all of these goals and prioritize their importance to the success of the website.

Once the goals of the website are determine, Optiem proceeds with Usability Scenario Development. With interface goals and test participants addressed, Optiem drafts a Usability Planning document that links the two by defining tasks that will test the website and the findings.  This document will provide a way of ensuring that all participants are "tested" in a consistent manner, while also making it clear to observers the sequence of tasks and how that sequence supports the testing.

Using the task document, Optiem will create a detailed script for users with sets of tasks for them to accomplish grouped by scenario.  We evaluate the website based on the success rate of users for each scenario.

To ensure the successful completion of usability sessions, Optiem conducts internal session among project team members to review the script against the website to ensure smooth transitions and interactivity for usability candidates.
